Ryu, who is in the third year of his first term, is expected to address some of the important issues in the portion of his district that includes Hollywood. This includes issues at Griffith Park, the effort to build homeless housing in Hollywood, plans for improved safety, and access and mobility around the Hollywood Sign.

Besides portions of Hollywood, Ryu’s district also includes the neighborhoods of Sherman Oaks, Toluca Lake, Hollywood Hills, Los Feliz, Silverlake, Miracle Mile, Hancock Park, Windsor Square, Larchmont, and a portion of Koreatown.

Among his achievements to date are the purchase of land on the western edge of Runyan Canyon to expand open space and to prevent park land from future development, assisting in the purchase of land in Laurel Canyon to ensure future open space, the purchase of substantial open space on Mt. Lee to ensure wildlife access for future generations, and a contribution of $500,000 in Quimby funds to complete the L.A. River bike path in the San Fernando Valley.

In addition, he crafted legislative initiatives to increase car-sharing availability and to introduce dockless bike sharing in the City of L.A., cleaned up and renovated a blighted Hollywood community public facility, and contracted with LACC to provide additional and quick clean ups throughout the district and increased tree trimming district wide.

His constituent services representatives have staffed 500 events and assisted with close to 6,000 cases in the past year. Since 2015 when he assumed office, they have assisted with close to 20,000 community cases.
