Hollywood Chamber Holds Awards Media Welcome Center
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Variety and Madame Tussauds Hollywood, presented the 14th annual Awards Media Welcome Center at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatre Level 3 on Thursday, February 23rd. The annual event is held exclusively for local, national, and international press accredited by Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. Attending media got a sneak peak of Hollywood Museum’s Walk of Fame Display, an interactive demonstration of Walk of Fame star being made, and the unveiling of Madame Tussauds revamped wax figure of Meryl Streep.
The event promoted Hollywood and featured an array of exhibits and interview opportunities. Donelle Dadigan of the Hollywood Museum in the Historic Max Factor Building and co-chair of the Hollywood Historic Trust, discussed the Walk of Fame Exhibit at the Hollywood Museum. Top End Constructors demonstrated the making of a Walk of Fame star and invited attending media to interact with the process. Gift of Fame showcased their ceremonial ‘star plaque’ presented to Walk of Fame honorees for nearly 30 years. Madame Tussauds Hollywood representatives were on hand to answer questions pertaining to the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum and the process of making a wax figure. Leron Gubler, President & CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, spoke about the history of Hollywood, the current revitalization taking place including such projects as hotels and studios, and new tenants such as Viacom and Netflix who have moved into Hollywood. Variety, the entertainment industry’s leading provider of the most comprehensive and in-depth news coverage of the motion picture, television and the digital arenas reported on all that is Hollywood Entertainment. Ana Martinez, Vice President of Media Relations/Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame who is celebrating her 30th anniversary working with the Walk of Fame, shared her unique experiences about this famous landmark which recently celebrated its 55th Anniversary. Levi David Tinker, General Manager of The TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX discussed the largest IMAX movie theatre in the world and home to the industry’s biggest red carpet premieres and the legendary hand and footprint ceremonies. This grand movie palace is a historic landmark that receives more than 5-million visitors each year and is currently celebrating its 90th Anniversary with a film series which runs through 2017.
The event also featured exhibits from the Hollywood Museum in the Historic Max Factor Building, Bliss Spa, Pink’s Hot Dogs, Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood, Bobby Salazar’s Mexican Foods, Hollywood American Legion Post #43, L.A. Smash Cakes, Metro MD Institute of Regenerative Medicine, and Monster Energy Drink.
